Bond Funds Peaking Income Investor's Interest

Years of QE and ultra-low interest rates have caused income investors to migrate from fixed-income to dividend stocks, but things are shifting. The rising rates from the Fed have caused retail and institutional investors to really consider taxable fixed income as an income alternative. Investors are really interested in 4.5-5% investment-grade corporate debt with longer maturity. Investors believe we are reaching the bottom of the bond prices and short-term rates could be a little over 3% next year. Other advisors and institutional investors are skeptical that longer-term bonds like the ten-year treasury can prove to be appetizing in the next decade.

Finsum: Things are precarious in the bond market still but medium-range corporate debt is delivering an attractive yield currently.

Wealthy Investors Undervalue Direct Indexing

Direct indexing seems targeted at high-net-worth individuals. They have huge tax incentives, a decent fee structure, and usually high minimums, but there is just one problem: they don’t know about them. According to a survey by Parametric Portfolio Associates over half of high-net-worth are unfamiliar with direct indexing. This is odd because it's one of the fastest-growing market segments expected to grow at 12% each year over the next half-decade. The survey also finds that advisors that do recommend direct indexing, lean mostly on the tax structure and benefits that they can capitalize on.

Finsum: Investors need to be aware of the benefits of custom indexing, the tax benefits tend to outperform fees, so they can edge out traditional ETFs.

JPMorgan Calls for Commodities Surge

According to analysts at JPMorgan Chase & Co commodities could hit record territory and climb as high as 40% in the upcoming months. Investors tilting their portfolios into commodities are doing so in response to rampant inflation. Commodities might be at relative highs but there is lot of reason these prices could further elevate. Russia’s invasion pushed commodities prices higher as grains, metals, and fossil fuels were all affected. Goldman Sachs has also pushed raw materials as an inflation hedge.

FinsumThe trickle-down effect of oil prices alone could further boost commodities in the coming months.
