$180 Million Advisor Leaves Ameriprise for LPL

LPL recently announced that Jonathan Blakelock, an army veteran, who operates Blakelock Financial Group in the Houston suburb of Kingwood, Texas, has joined LPL Financial’s broker-dealer, RIA, and custodial platforms. Blakelock and his six-member support staff joined LPL from Ameriprise, where he and the team oversaw about $180 million in advisory and brokerage assets. He started his career in 2007 and has grown his business organically over the years, now serving more than 400 clients in 17 states. His practice offers a comprehensive suite of advisory services, ranging from small businesses to retirement and tax planning strategies, to family finances and divorce financial planning. Blakelock said that he made his decision to move to LPL based on a need for greater flexibility and choice, particularly in the area of financial planning, a cornerstone of the practice. He stated the following in a new release, “LPL has several advanced planning programs to choose from, along with more mutual funds and innovative solutions to deliver better experiences for my clients. This move will give me more tools and flexibility, while still providing oversight that my clients want. It also allows me to brand my business and have more control in the way we operate.”

Two Teams of Advisors Join LPL’s Linsco

LPL recently announced that two teams of advisors, who serve a combined $275 million in advisory, brokerage, and retirement plan assets have joined LPL’s employee advisor channel, Linsco by LPL Financial. Chris Corcoran CRPC® joins LPL from Merrill Lynch and will be the first tenant in a new Linsco office in Houston, Texas. Matt Jackson and Adam Callender CRPC® join LPL from Truist and will work remotely from Northeast Florida. Corcoran has nearly 25 years of industry experience and works mainly with oil and gas engineers and other self-made clients. Jackson and Callender have a combined 22 years of service, having worked together since 2006. They shifted from the mortgage industry to wealth management in 2010. They specialize in retirement planning, investment solutions, and appropriate risk management strategies. They will also be joined at LPL by Registered Client Service Associate Tiffany Nessmith. Both teams went with Linsco by LPL to enhance the client service experience and have the freedom and flexibility to focus on what’s best for their clients. Linsco serves advisors that are seeking independence, including owning their client relationships and having the flexibility to run their practice, the way they want.

LPL Scoops Up Duo from Securities America

LPL recently announced that it nabbed two advisors from Securities America. Eric Fenton and Rodney Wangler, who operate as Fenton Wangler Financial, and are based in Vancouver, Washington, will link up with the JFC Advisor Network, which conducts brokerage and advisory business through LPL Financial. The duo managed a combined $300 million in advisory, brokerage, and retirement plan assets at Securities America. Fenton has been in the industry since 1989. He started with Mutual Service Corporation but has also been affiliated with The Prudential Insurance Company of America, Pruco Securities Corporation, Mony Securities Corporation, Carillon Investments, Sunset Financial Services, SII Investments, and Securities America. Wangler started his career in 1996 with Pruco Securities Corporation. He has also been registered with Mony Securities Corporation, Carillon Investments, Sunset Financial Services, SII Investments, and Securities America. In a statement, Fenton had this to say about the move, “LPL invests heavily in its innovative technology, which is critical to keep pace in this ever-changing environment. We recognized that we needed a platform such as LPL’s ClientWorks where everything is connected, making it easier to do business. Our clients will also appreciate Account View, where they can easily view reports and account information in one place.”

LPL Appoints Model Portfolio Chief

LPL Financial recently announced that it has appointed Garrett Fish as Senior Vice President and head of Model Portfolio Management to the firm’s investment research team. In this new role, Fish will lead LPL’s investment model portfolio function, leveraging his years of active portfolio management experience to guide the firm’s model management, which includes directing the investment process and communicating with advisors. Fish will also sit on the firm’s Strategic & Tactical Asset Allocation Committee, a body responsible for the multi-asset, capital market view of LPL. He comes to LPL from J.P. Morgan Asset Management, where he spent nearly two decades as an industry-recognized fund manager leading a variety of investment vehicles for institutional and wealth management. He has managed against large-cap equity, multi-asset, and sustainable mandates during his career. LPL’s Chief Investment Officer Marc Zabicki, had this to say as part of the announcement. “Garrett’s extensive active portfolio management experience, including his international purview, will deepen our investment model management capabilities for the benefit of LPL advisors and their clients. As he joins LPL’s seasoned team of research professionals, his background and experience will also be brought to bear across our entire organization as we work collectively to provide the expertise, rigorous analysis, and valued insights on which advisors and their clients can rely.”

LPL Plucks 18 Advisor Team from Advisor Group

LPL Financial announced that it has nabbed Strategic Partners, a Parsons, Kansas-based practice with 18 advisors and approximately $830 million in advisory, brokerage, and retirement plan assets. Strategic Partners joins from Royal Alliance, an Advisor Group subsidiary, and aligns with National Financial Alliance a San Antonio, Texas-based office of supervisory jurisdiction of LPL. Strategic Partners was founded by Owner and President Chris Lubbers in 1994 while he was still attending college. Lubbers said that he and his firm were attracted to LPL and NFA for their technology, operational efficiencies, and growth opportunities. He stated, “I’m all about efficiency and that’s where LPL shines. The firm has invested heavily in its technology platform, creating efficient processes and enhanced solutions that will help our advisors provide better services. Clients will have easier access to reporting and account information, all in one place to give them a deeper understanding of their financial picture.” He also mentioned that the move will help him and his firm recruit more advisors.
