Trump Reimbursed Cohen for Daniels Payment

(New York)

In a bombshell disclosure, a government ethics body has found that President Trump did, in fact, reimburse attorney Michael Cohen for the $130,000 payment he made to keep Stormy Daniels from taking her alleged affair with Donald Trump public. President Trump’s White House disclosed the payment as part of financial disclosure rules, with Trump affirming the payment on Twitter as well. The revelation refutes the president’s earlier claims that he had no idea about the payment.

FINSUM: So the reimbursement is one thing, but potentially more significant is the fact that this payment was not disclosed properly, which according to the Office of Government Ethics (OGE), was a violation.

Stormy Daniels to Make Trump Testify Under Oath

(Washington)

Donald Trump may be in some very hot water soon. Stormy Daniels’ lawyer has just moved to interview the president under oath in relation to her lawsuit against him. Her lawyer, Michael Avenatti, has just asked a California court for the right to depose the president and his lawyer. The president’s lawyer, Michael Cohen, reject Daniels’ claim, defending his payment to her saying “just because something isn’t true doesn’t mean that it can’t cause you harm or damage”.

FINSUM: We suspect this request will not actually lead to Trump speaking under oath, but that does not mean something else in the case (or others) will not eventually put the president in that position.

(Washington)

It would be easy to dismiss the current uproar over the Stormy Daniels case against Donald Trump as another in a long series of minor scandals surrounding the White House. However, this one might be very different. The reason why is that the legal case surrounding the situation may force Trump to testify under oath, which could prove a very dicey situation. Daniels, whose real name is Stephanie Clifford, is now offering to pay back the $130,000 she received in exchange for releasing her from her obligation of silence.

FINSUM: It will be very interesting to see where this case leads, as there could be wide-ranging implications.
