The banter between North Korea and Washington, or more particularly Kim Jong Un and Donald Trump, is continuing. The tone is getting scarier, however, as Pyongyang warned that nuclear war “may break out at any moment”. The country’s deputy ambassador to the UN said yesterday that it has “full-fledged nuclear power” and that “the entire U.S. mainland is within our firing range”. One defense analyst at Rand had this quip about the comments, “The problem is North Korea is used to using very extreme words to deter by bluff and by bluster, and now they’re shocked that the Americans are using a similar approach”.
FINSUM: The US is locked in a scary war of words with North Korea. Hopefully everyone just sticks to words.
