There is a lot of debate in the media and academia about the current state of Republican support for President Trump. Many side with leftist Democrats in arguing that Republican lawmakers have taken little action other than making a few negative comments regarding the president. However, another camp says that the breadth and depth of verbal attacks by Congressmen on the president do constitute major political actions in the current media environment, and are exceedingly rare by same-party governments. Bipartisan investigations in Trump’s affairs also support the idea that the Republican party has begun to turn its back on the White House.
